About the mall…

I went to the mall today because I need clothes. I can’t put it off any longer. I lost all of my clothing in Katrina. It didn’t bother me at first, because I was pregnant, and most of it wouldn’t have fit me anyway, but I’m not pregnant anymore. Zakiyyah and my husband both have more clothes than I do. It’s time to do something about this. My pregnancy pants are now too big, and when I lean forward I get plumber’s crack. Not very attractive by any means. This situation is exacerbated by the fact that I am nursing. That means most dresses and jilbobs won’t work.

Lately, I have been wearing long skirts and blouses. This makes whippin’ out the watermelons a lil easier. But long skirts are hard to find, and sometimes very expensive. $40 for a basic denim skirt!! These shops are out of their minds. Plus, some of them are so hideous. I. Am. Not. Amish. I just want something semi-stylish and modest. It seems like mid-calf length skirts are making a comeback. I ran all over the mall getting my hopes up over skirts only to realize that they are inches too short. Grr…

I eventually found a long, white linen skirt. It was more than I wanted to pay, but oh well.

  1. Asalaamu alaikum,
As odd as it sound Walmart is starting to carry some very nice long skirts. They are, for lack of a better word, hippie type skirts. But they are long and fairly cheap. I have pondered buying them but I am convinced I will not need them because I am SURE I will lose this baby weight soon and can fit in all of my old clothes…. I also found that when you are nursing there are jilbabs that hook, snap or velcro on the shoulders and they are SOOOO easy to nurse in. I am putting a link in so that you can see the kind I am talking about…I highly recomend these…
